Hank is the chapter's elected Vice-President along with being the editor
of the chapter newsletter the SPINAL RAP. He has also coordinated our
Computer Exchange Program (CEP). My injury occurred on July 12th 1981,
it was a diving accident that left me a C5-C6 quad or as many now refer
to as a tetraplegic. I spent nearly one full year in rehab from the date
of my injury until the middle of June 1982. I did my time at St. Francis
Rehabilitation Hospital in Green Springs, Ohio. It was a long haul but
well worth the time as I have remained healthy for the last 24 years. I'm the oldest of six kids, two brothers and three sisters, we grew up on a farm and despite my injury I was going to continue farming. I had just graduated from Owens Tech (now Owens Community College) with an associates degree in applied science my major was farm management. For several years I continued to work in the fields but as time passes things change and so did I. It became difficult and time consuming getting things around for a day in the field so I just did the book keeping until my father retired. I enjoy camping, fishing, boating, computers, and my new job as a freelance web site designer. I've built my own computers along with the help of friends and my mother who had been my primary care giver until she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a couple years ago. Now I have a nurse and aides that help me out on a regular basis. I could probably write a book about my experiences and my disability but this isn't the place for it. Instead check out some photos that have been taken of me over the years doing the things I enjoy the most.
